Position Title: Part-Time Temporary Mailroom Clerk
Department: Mailroom
Reports Directly To: Mailroom Supervisor
Opening Date:  September 10, 2013
Closing Date: Open Until Filled
Status: Non-Exempt; Part-Time Temporary
Salary: $10.00 per hour

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Mailroom Supervisor, performs all or some of the following duties:
  1. Sorts mail according to department.
  2. Prepares mail to go out.
  3. Prepares mail to be delivered to departments.
  4. Keeps a record of transactions.
  5. Sells stamps.
  6. Prepares packages to be mailed.
  7. Keeps record of student mail boxes and makes sure that they are in working order.
  8. Cleans and keeps the mailroom in an orderly and clean condition.
  9. Ensures all mail is handled the same day it comes in or goes out.
  10. Processes all memos and in-house mail.
  11. Punctual and reliable in reporting to work.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires stooping and lifting in the performance of duties. Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Additional hours are needed for Saturday mail requiring overtime. Occasionally overtime when needed to complete mailings. Will require delivery of mail from building to building on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Individual must posses a current driver's license and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record. A copy of driver's license will need to be submitted with application. Applicant will need to pass an acceptable background check.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.

If selected for the position, the applicant is subject to a complete background investigation with favorable determination.
