SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the general supervision of the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education and the designated department chair, the Business Management Instructor performs the following duties:
  1. Instructs students based upon the master course schedule, degree plans, and curricula approved by the Curriculum Committee and the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education in the coursework areas of Business Administration and Business Management.
  2. Assists with the assessment, orientation, registration, career counseling and academic advising of students.
  3. Develops culturally-relevant curricula, lesson plans and other postsecondary coursework materials that achieve student competencies and meet industry workforce standards. Course syllabi will be updated and submitted on a semester basis to the Registrar's office and to the academic vice president.
  4. Monitors and reports student attendance and academic progress daily, at mid-terms, and at the end of Finals week through the Jenzabar system.
  5. Refers students to appropriate academic support and student/campus life services.
  6. Reviews and makes recommendations to the department chair and the academic vice president regarding program needs, budgets, informational changes to the college catalog, departmental policies and procedures, and acquisition of instructional materials and supplies.
  7. Participates in student learning assessments, student advising, program evaluation, classroom observations, institutional committees, department chairs and all hand conversation meetings, professional development activities, vocational club, and other activities required by the institution.
  8. Coordinates with the department chair and the academic vice president and prepares the program for comprehensive evaluations by the N.D. Department of Career and Technical Education and for re-accreditation by the NCA Higher Learning Commission.
  9. Will participate in graduation commencement wearing cap and gown.

None.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office and classroom conditions. Normal working hours are from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. with one hour lunch break. For flexible scheduling, arrangements will be made with the department chair and the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education.

UTTC instructors must be sensitive to the cultures of the students enrolled at the college, must be willing to learn about those cultures, and must be willing to integrate multi-cultural perspectives where appropriate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree in Business from an accredited higher education institution with three (3) years successful college instruction in business related courses preferred. Will accept a Bachelor's degree in Business Education or related field with five (5) years successful instruction in business curriculum preferably in a tribal college or related higher education environment. Knowledge and experience with tribal colleges, American Indian Tribes, Native American cultures and histories desirable. Must have a teaching certificate from the N.D. Department of Career and Technical Education or must be actively pursuing such credentials.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
