Position Title: Teacher Education Instructor

Reports Directly To:  Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education

Status:  Nine Month Academic Year; Exempt

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Teacher Education Department Chair and the Vice President of Academic, Career and Technical Education, performs all or some of the following duties:
  1. Instructs college students based upon the master course schedule, degree plans and curricula approved for Teacher Education by the UTTC Curriculum Committee and the Vice President of Academic, Career & Technical Education.
  2. Is fully prepared for class, modeling current, educational best practices.
  3. Assists with the assessment, registration and advising of students.
  4. Monitors and reports student attendance and academic progress daily, at mid-terms and at the end of Finals week through the Jenzabar system.
  5. Refers students to appropriate academic support and student/campus life services.
  6. Reviews and makes recommendations to the department chair regarding the acquisition of instructional materials and supplies.
  7. Participates in student learning assessments, student advising, program evaluation, classroom observations, institutional committees, professional development, vocational club, and other activities required by the institution.
  8. Develops culturally-relevant curricula, lesson plans and other postsecondary coursework materials that promote student competencies and meet industry-standards.
  9. Maintains regular office hours.
  10. Participates in assessment, professional development, and other activities required by the institution.
  11. Participate in activities required for maintaining accreditation of Bachelor of Science degree program.
  12. Works under the policies and procedures of the UTTC Personnel Manual.
  13. Participates in graduation commencement wearing gap and gown.
  14. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's Degree in Elementary Education with a minimum of 5 years of recent elementary school teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidate with experience teaching in college setting. Good computer skills and knowledge of current technologies is needed. Preference will be given to candidate with a ND Reading Credential.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.
