Position Title: Criminal Justice Adjunct Instructor – Introduction to Criminal Justice (CJU 201) – Black Hills Learning Center, Rapid City SD.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Instructs students based upon the curriculum as approved by the Department Chair, the Curriculum Committee and the academic vice president in the fields of Criminal Justice. Course syllabus/syllabi will be developed and placed on file with the Registrar's office.
- Adjusts lesson plans and other course materials to meet the needs of students. Instructors must be sensitive to the cultures of the students they teach, learn about those cultures, and integrate culturally-appropriate and culturally-relevant material when appropriate.
- Evaluates students' progress and communicates with the student’s academic advisor when problems or issues arise.
- Monitors and reports student attendance and academic progress weekly, at mid-terms and at the end of Finals week through the MyUTTC LMS (required for both campus based and online courses).
- Maintains a record of weekly coursework on MyUTTC LMS.
- Manages instructional activities according to policies and procedures of UTTC Faculty Handbook.
- Confers weekly with the Criminal Justice Department Chair on overall progress of students and instruction.
- Serves as a secondary advisor for students. This role is crucial to student success and instructors enter into an advisement relationship with students with regard to academics and other topics insofar as these relationships do not interfere with other helping and/or therapeutic relationships those students have on campus.
- Assists with designing courses for online instruction.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Adjunct instructors teaching online are expected to have stable and reliable Internet access and meet the minimum technical requirements listed for students. This includes an up-to-date web browser, currently supported operating system, and Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Adjunct instructors teaching in a face-to-face situation may use campus computer labs to enter student grades and attendance if needed. Coursework, grades, and student attendance documentation will be maintained in the MyUTTC LMS.
