Position Title: Bookstore On-Line Sales Technician/Clerk
Department: Bookstore
Reports Directly To: Bookstore Manager
Status: 12 month; Non-Exempt
Salary: $DOE

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Bookstore Manager the Bookstore On-Line Sales Technician/Clerk performs all or some of the following duties:

  1. Assists and helps customers with purchases by providing excellent customer service.  This involves greeting the customer, determining the customer needs, closing the sale, thanking the customer and invites them to come back again.
  2. Support store operations by accurately and efficiently recording cash and charge transactions using Quick Books Pro software.
  3. Unpacking freight, verifying quantities and prices on purchase order, fill out receiving report, price & code merchandise, re-stock merchandise or put in storeroom.
  4. Makes deliveries on-campus to various departments when needed.
  5. Re-stocking shelves fold and straighten sportswear.
  6. Answers Phone – Transfer Calls – Take Messages.
  7. Fax Purchase Orders to Vendors.
  8. Make Xerox Copies.
  9. Assist in monthly and yearly inventory.
  10. Assist with ordering of supplies, notebooks, and sportswear, gift and novelty items.
  11. Assist in ordering graduation caps & gowns for students & faculty.
  12. Develop, Implement & Maintain On-Line Store.
  13. Take Digital Pictures of merchandise for On-Line Store.
  14. Enter Descriptions & item #’s for merchandise for On-Line Store.
  15. Research other On-Line stores for ideas, products & equipment.
  16. Invoice & process On-Line orders including packaging.
  17. Submit articles to Campus Newsletter Monthly.
  18. Submit Announcements to Campus via Intranet when needed.
  19. Entering Student Charges & Credits in Jenzebar.
  20. Assist in Organizing Backroom & Storerooms.
  21. Get Mail Daily.
  22. Dusting.
  23. Perform other duties as required or assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position requires working primarily indoors in an office environment, at a level-surface desk, with access to stairs and an elevator.  Requirements of the position include sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, finger dexterity, good vision, and good speaking skills and the ability to hear within normal range.  Use of a keyboard, computer and telephone is required.  The position also involves working under time pressures and deadlines.  Position will require lifting up to 30 lbs or more.  Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm with one hour lunch break.  Occasional work may be required after normal working hours.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must have at least a two-year associate degree in computer information systems, web design or related field.  Applicant must have at least 1 to 2 years experience working in a bookstore or retail store.  Applicant must have experience and knowledge of computers.  Prefer knowledge in Microsoft Office Professional programs, Web Design and Quick Books.  Applicant must have working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.  Applicant must have working knowledge of merchandising and have ability to establish a good working relationship with students, faculty, staff and general public.
