Position Title: Switchboard Operator
Department:  Administration
Reports Directly To:  Executive Assistant

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

This position is responsible for the first impression with those that call into this campus. You need to be committed to helping every person, internally and externally that call in, to help them reach their destination on the phone. The switchboard operator should possess the skills, experience and desire to become familiar and actively involved in the continued success of our students and UTTC.

To thrive in this role, you will need strong interpersonal skills, effective oral communication skills and be able to work well with others. You will need to be able to work independently and be highly organized. You will need to maintain strict confidentially in all matters pertaining to the work within this office and conduct and conduct yourself in a professional manner.

Under the direct supervision of the executive assistant, performs all or some of the following duties:
  1. Answers all incoming phone calls with a positive attitude and routes them to the appropriate office or person. Will need to follow proper phone etiquette for a great customer service experience.
  2. Assist with greeting all visitors that enter this office with a strong focus on customer service and providing a positive experience at UTTC.
  3. Maintains an accurate phone list/directory.
  4. Assists receptionist when needed.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned for the President's office.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

General office conditions. Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm with one hour for lunch. Additional hours may be required to attend meetings or completion or reports as the need arises. Business attire is preferred. Will need to be able to walk up and down stairs and lift up to 20 lbs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the areas of the duties listed above.

Must have above-average communication skills and receptionist etiquette. Must be prepared to work independently.

Preference will be given to bona fide American Indian applicants in accordance with UTTC policies and Federal Indian regulations for such preference.

If selected for the position, the applicant is subject to a complete background investigation with favorable determination.
