BISMARCK (UTN) – United Tribes Technical College is gearing-up for participation in the annual student conference of tribal colleges, a national event.

UTTC academic advisors and students gathered January 18 to plot and plan for the 2017 American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) student conference. It takes place in Rapid City, SD March 19-21, the week after UTTC Spring Break.

The conference features a series of competitions including skill, art and knowledge. Teams from the 37 tribal colleges and universities from around the country will attend.

Events open for student competition are: The Knowledge Bowl, Science Bowl, Scientific Oral Presentation, Business Bowl, Hand Games, Chess, Art, Speech, One-Act Plays, Poetry Slam, Archery, Website Design, Traditional Plants and Herbs, Critical Inquiry and Mr. and Ms. AIHEC.

UTTC students are urged to get involved and register early; only 20 students will be allowed to make the trip.

Students must have a 2.0 GPA and be in good academic standing as defined in the UTTC College Catalog. Students must also sign the student travel policy. The trip will be by bus departing Saturday, March 18 and returning March 22.

Bismarck will host the 2018 AIHEC Student Conference.
