Position Title: Maintenance Groundskeeper II

Department: Facilities

Reports Directly to: Maintenance Groundskeeper & Driver/Service Technician Supervisor

Status: Non-exempt; Full-time

Salary: $14.50-$18.92

Summary of Duties:

  • Maintains, repairs, and operates vehicles (e.g., trucks, tractor, maintenance vehicles, man lifts, and golf carts), heavy machinery, and equipment (e.g., chainsaws, weed eaters, mowers, blowers, power tools, pruners, pole saws). Performs routine equipment and shop maintenance.
  • Performs tasks of mowing grass, tree trimming, fertilizing, weed eating, landscaping, pesticide applications, irrigation repairs, plant, fertilize, spray, water, prune, propagate and cultivate grasses, flowers, bushes, trees, and other plants and Installs landscaping and related items on campus grounds. Seed and fertilize as needed.
  • Ensures campus is neat and attractive in appearance at all times.
  • Performs snow removal by operating heavy and light equipment (i.e., skid steers, front end loaders, sweepers, brooms, shovels, and dump trucks, ).
  • Keep sidewalks and steps clear of snow and ice.
  • Blow and sweep sidewalks, stairs, porches, and parking lots weekly if not daily.
  • Ensures completion of projects in accordance with assignments given by supervisor.
  • Assist with general maintenance as Assists with changing light bulbs as needed.
  • Assists with set-up/break-down for programs and events.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and supplies, assist with setup/teardown for Campus sponsored and hosted events, as directed.
  • Maintain the storm and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Maintain, repair, and winterize all irrigation systems.
  • Requests supplies or materials for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensures availability of items required.
  • Clean all areas when finishing a project.
  • Will work a minimum of eight (8) hours during Powwow weekend as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:None.

Working Conditions:

  • Shift work is work that takes place on a schedule outside normal working hours of Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with one hour of unpaid lunch and one 20 minute break.
  • Shifts maybe early morning, late morning, evening, night shifts, and rotating shifts.
  • Additional hours, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to stand or bend for hours at a time.
  • Must be competent with grounds keeping tools.
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs.
  • Ability to actively work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, noise, dust, dirt, etc.
  • Frequently lifts 60 pounds; occasionally lifts more than 100 pounds; frequently walks, kneels, crouches, bends, twists, and engages in other physical exertion including and not limited to climbing ladders.

Minimum Qualificationss:

  • Must have a high school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid ND Drivers License and be insurable under UTTCs insurance carrier.
  • Experience using yard maintenance equipment.
  • Experience using power hand tools.
