We value the quality of student life and are committed to honor and respect all Native Americans and their respective cultures. Our team expresses these values through listening, confidentiality, trust, honesty, competence, integrity, courteousness, care and professionalism.

Self-Esteem | Bullying | Self-Motivation |
Depression | Sexual Harassment | Emotional and Behavioral Concerns |
Anxiety | Family Conflict and Concerns | Substance Use/Abuse |
Finances | Suicidal Thoughts | Uncertainty about Career/Life Goals |
Relationship Violence/Sexual Assault | Weight Issues/Eating Concerns |
Meeting with a Wellness Counselor at the Lewis Goodhouse Wellness Center is free for current United Tribes Technical College students and their immediate family members. Students are assigned to a counselor in relation to their degree program (please see Counselor info). If student concerns would more appropriately be addressed by another agency, the proper referral(s) will be made. Wellness Counselors provide therapeutic interventions, including supportive counseling, meditation, and relaxation techniques.
Katy Thomas, LMSW
Counselor
Hello! My name is Katy Thomas, and I have been with UTTC for over five years. I received my Bachelor of Social Work through the University of Mary in April 2017. I graduated with my Master of Social Work in May 2021 through the University of South Dakota. I have had various background experiences when working with small children, youth, families, and elders in the community. Currently, I have been trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), which is an alternative type of therapy I can assist my clients with. My pursuit is to continue counseling individuals/families in a therapeutic setting. Looking forward to meeting you and helping you find success along the way!
