The Indigenous Fine Arts Associate of Science (AS) degree program provides a wide variety of traditional and nontraditional art forms for students to explore their artistic interests as they pursue a future as an Indigenous artist or a path into other programs of study. The Indigenous Fine Arts program provides students with the iconography and know-how to teach and create various traditional and contemporary art forms through different mediums. Students considering selling their artwork can utilize the business electives within the program for marketing and selling.
Graduates of this program emerge with a holistic understanding of Indigenous art, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to the preservation and evolution of these invaluable cultural expressions. The associate’s degree in Indigenous Fine Art aims to empower students to become culturally competent artists who can navigate the intersection of tradition and contemporary expression with respect and creativity.
The AS in Indigenous Fine Arts will immerse students in various Indigenous art mediums, allowing students to explore and establish their medium of choice, such as:
Within UTTC’s Indigenous Fine Arts degree program, students will be introduced to a variety of focus degrees, aiding in their future navigation of potential areas of study and employment. Although the main focus is art, within the degree requirements, students have the opportunity to take introductory courses in Indigenous Leadership, Native American history, education, and business and advance their study after graduation in the following degree plans:
