Students are assigned to a counselor in relation to their degree program (please see Counselor info). If student concerns would more appropriately be addressed by another agency, the proper referral(s) will be made. Wellness Counselors provide therapeutic interventions, including supportive counseling, meditation, and relaxation techniques.

Peer Support Services
A Peer Support Specialist is an individual with personal lived experience in recovery from a mental health condition, substance use disorder, brain injury, or a combination of these challenges. Drawing from their own journey and formal Peer Support Specialist Training, they offer behavioral health services and compassionate support to others navigating similar paths.
Peer Support Specialists play a vital role in helping individuals engage in and sustain their recovery. Their presence promotes connection, hope, and resilience, contributing to a recovery-oriented system that emphasizes not just symptom management, but personal growth, community involvement, and overall wellness.
To serve in this role, a Peer Support Specialist must either: a) Self-identify as someone in recovery and be willing to publicly share their lived experience with a mental health condition, substance use disorder, traumatic brain injury, or any combination thereof; or b) Be a family member with personal lived experience supporting an individual facing these challenges.
