Reports Directly to: Center Director (IRRC)

Status: Exempt; Full-time

Salary: 60,000

Summary of Duties:

  • Facilitates the full lifecycle of grant proposals, from identification of funding sources to submission and post-award management.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop compelling grant proposals that align with institutional priorities and comply with funding agency requirements.
  • Provides regular workshops and training to faculty and staff on grant writing best practices, proposal development, project management, and funding opportunities.
  • Maintains a current database of grants and sponsored programs, tracking deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
  • Becomes knowledgeable and stays informed on new trends in funding opportunities, grant regulations, and agency requirements.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures related to grant management and compliance.
  • Assists with the proposal submission process, including submitting completed proposals to funding agencies and obtaining documents in a timely manner.
  • Tracks research-related training certifications for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Supports post-award activities, including contract negotiation, budget modification, providing guidance on expending awards in accordance with regulations, and project closeout.
  • Facilitates communication and relationship-building among institutional departments and with funding agencies.
  • Promotes and encourages the expansion of research activity by working with faculty and staff to identify funding sources and project alignment.
  • Participates in internal research funding opportunities mechanisms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Working Conditions:

  • General office conditions. Normal working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with one hour for a lunch break.
  • Rarely may need to work additional hours for special events, meeting/presentations or infrequent travel as needed.

Physical Demands: 

  • Regularly be able to remain in a sitting position
  • Occasionally move about inside an office and/or classroom
  • Operate a computer and other office/classroom equipment
  • Occasionally move, transport, or position up to 25 pounds
  • Communicate clearly and effectively

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a professional environment with similar duties.
  • Experience with federal, state or private funding sources.
  • Basic familiarity with financial management and budgeting principles related to grants.
  • Must be respectful, flexible, and have a high level of customer services skills.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal team building and decision-making skills.
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills, strong writing skills, organizational skills, and time management.
  • Ability to organize work and be effective under stress to meet deadlines.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and Google Docs (preferred).
  • Must be exceptionally detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must have excellent communication (written and oral) skills.
  • Able to work effectively with faculty, staff, agency personnel, and administrators.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently without direct supervision, be punctual, and be an effective team member.
  • Must be willing to learn and grow with the team.
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
