Summary of Duties:
- Provides intensive intervention learning experiences and teaches pre-reading, reading, language arts, and other general elements of academics in accordance with the ND state content standards.
- Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with wide a range of mental, physical and emotional maturity.
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of classroom management required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records.
- Prepares and provides progress reports. i.e., report cards; and other formal and informal assessment data to classroom teachers.
- Maintains electronic assessment data for access by parents as needed to strengthen communication between the home and the school.
- Communicates with classroom teachers on a weekly basis and communicates with parents along with the classroom teacher as needed incorporating the use of technology in the delivery of lessons.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school as appropriate.
- Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop goals to be used in the performance evaluation process in accordance with district guidelines and participates in faculty meetings.
- Selects culturally respective materials appropriate for the curriculum and necessary for fulfilling school objectives.
- Provides Native Language Learning weekly lesson plans, library usage to students and teachers.
- Provides in-service to faculty members regarding materials available and possible ways to use these materials to support our student’s culture.
- Evaluates inventories collection annually; discarding out-of-date materials and establishes priorities for new acquisitions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Working Conditions:
Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Will occasionally need to work additional hours as needed.
Physical Demands:
Will need to be able to bend, stoop and lift. Will need to walk outside during adverse weather conditions
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
- A valid North Dakota teaching credential authorizing instruction in a self-contained instructional setting for grades K-8 is required.
