Summary of Duties:

  • Assist customers in-store and online with purchases by providing excellent customer service. This involves greeting the customer, determining the customer’s needs, preparing orders, closing the sale, thanking the customer, and inviting them to come back again.
  • Answer phone in a professional manner, take messages, and transfer calls when necessary.
  • Support store operations by recording accurately and efficiently cash and charge transactions using Quick Books Pro software.
  • Complete daily Sales Tax Liability and Profit/Loss reports, log daily credit card transactions, and perform other assigned administrative record-keeping duties.
  • Assist in the ordering of in-store inventory merchandise for resale and non-inventory department requested items. Send Purchase Orders to vendors and invoice departments for resale purchases.
  • Submit purchase requisitions, obtain receiving reports, and send completed documentation to Property & Supply and Accounts Payable in a timely manner.
  • Unpack freight, verify received items with the purchase order, invoice, and packing slip to ensure quality of items and accurate inventory has been received.
  • Enter received resale merchandise information and purchase cost into Quick Books Pro. Determine retail price for merchandise and tag it accordingly.
  • Create and rotate displays, re-stock shelves with new merchandise, and put overstock in storage area.
  • Participate in routine and policy-required inventory assessments.
  • Assist supervisor with creating SFA student book vouchers each semester and entering student account supply and textbook charges in the retention module.
  • Provide student support and assistance in the semester ordering of course Maintain a log of student pick up for the received materials.
  • Assist supervisor with the disbursement and tracking of graduation regalia and accessories for students and Attend graduation to provide disbursement support.

  • Performs other duties as assigned, which includes a minimum of 8 hours for Special Events.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Working Conditions:

  • Shift schedule with working hours of Monday to Friday from 8 am – 5 pm with a one-hour, unpaid lunch.
  • Shifts may include early/late morning, evening, nights, and rotating shifts. Additional hours, weekends, and holidays may be required. An adjusted schedule and additional hours will be required for Events Week.
  • Primary work is in an office environment, at a level-surface desk, with access to stairs and a dumbwaiter.
  • The position also involves working under time pressures and deadlines.

Physical Demands: 

  • Requirements of the position include sitting for long periods of time, walking, standing, finger dexterity, good vision, good verbal skills, and the ability to hear within normal range.
  • Use of a keyboard, computer, copier/scanner, and telephone is required.
  • Position will require lifting to 25 lbs. or more.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in business, computer information or related field.
  • Two (2) years of full-time experience working in a bookstore or retail store.
  • A combination of education and experience may be used to meet the minimum requirements.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Prefer to have experience working in a college or retail setting
  • Possess good oral and written communication skills
  • Applicant must have a professional attitude and excellent customer skills.
  • Must exhibit good attendance.
