The Fisheries and Wildlife Biology major is intended for students who have a combined love for animals, the outdoors, and a sustainable future. The curriculum builds a strong foundation in biological concepts while focusing on the social and political aspects surrounding current and future issues related to the conservation of fish and wildlife populations. Faculty members offer a wide range of expertise and use innovative teaching strategies, a culturally congruent environment, and research to bring real-world applications into the classroom.
Our program prepares students for professional careers involving fish, wildlife, and conservation in tribal, state, and federal agencies, nongovernmental organizations, the private sector, academic institutions, and graduate school. Numerous opportunities exist for students to gain experience through research, internships, and professional societies and build a professional network alongside dedicated professional and career mentors.
