Computer Science

The Associate of Science in Computer Science equips students with a strong foundation in computational thinking, programming, and system design. This two-year degree prepares students to transfer into a four-year computer science program while building essential skills for today’s technology-driven world.

Students develop hands-on experience in core areas such as software development, database systems, data structures, algorithms, and operating systems. The program also introduces emerging fields, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, preparing students for the rapidly evolving landscape of computing.

With a balanced focus on theory and practical application, students engage in project-based learning, collaborative coding environments, and problem-solving experiences that mirror professional practice. Graduates are well prepared to continue their education and pursue rewarding careers in fields such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, software and web development, cybersecurity. video game development, and other emerging areas of technology.

Program Outcomes

Graduates of the UTTC Computer Science AS degree program will:

Utilize critical thinking skills needed for Computer Science
  1. Apply fundamental programming skills, including flow control and program structure, to implement software solutions
  2. Employ object oriented programming skills to organize software systems using classes, objects, and well defined relationships
  3. Apply analytical thinking and structured problem‑solving techniques used in Computer Science
Build software using industry best practices
  1. Create software solutions using industry standards and tools
  2. Utilize AI-assisted development tools in the software development process
  3. Work effectively in a team-based environment
Create dynamic web applications and user interfaces
  1. Build responsive and interactive web applications
  2. Utilize modern web development tools and frameworks
  3. Utilize relational databases to power data-driven web applications
