Reports Directly to: TJES Principal
Status: Non-exempt; Full-time
Salary: $18.00
Summary of Duties:
- Work with students in a variety of settings.
- Assists the classroom teacher with the following responsibilities:
- Assist in the maintaining of each students’ files, prepares accurate reports, written plans, and document
- Contributes to required reports, end of the year reports, and data collection.
- Implements and assists with weekly and daily lesson plans.
- Use a variety of instructional approaches including active learning, materials, and techniques to ensure that children learn to their fullest potential
- Provide a learning environment that is full of learning opportunities which reflect the language and culture of the families.
- Assist with the implementation of various instructional approaches including active learning, appropriate instructional material, and assist the students to reach their fullest learning potential.
- Discusses assigned teaching area with classroom teacher to coordinate instruction efforts.
- Attends meetings as needed.
- Document progress of students.
- Participates on committees.
- Frequently makes moderately simple decisions regarding the discipline of children, lesson planning and classroom activities.
- Supervises children in preparing for lunch and in the cafeteria and during recess/noon hour.
- Meets other requirements as a staff member of the school.
- Reliable and punctual in reporting for scheduled work.
- Support the classroom teacher as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Working Conditions:
- Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm.
- May work additional hours in various activities for children and/or parents.
- Able to travel to and attend required training that are position related.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen.
- Occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
Minimum Qualifications:
As part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title l Paraprofessionals must have a secondary school diploma or its recognized equivalent and meet one of the following three requirements to be employed in a Title l program:
- Obtained a working knowledge in reading, mathematics, and writing by completing two years of study (48 semester hours) at an accredited institution of higher education, or
- Obtained an associates (or higher) degree, or
- Met a rigorous and objective standard of quality, which includes a North Dakota approved assessment of skills in reading, mathematics, and writing.
Individuals holding a North Dakota educator’s professional license meet the requirements under ESSA and the teaching license number could be used in lieu of the paraprofessional certificate of completion number.
