Position Title: Accounting Technician - Apprentice - Close April 30, 2025 at 5:00 PM

Status: Non-exempt; Part-time

Salary: $14.00

Summary of Duties:

• Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers.
• Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
• Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
• Prepare and process payroll information.
• Match order forms with invoices and record the necessary information.
• Compare computer printouts to manually maintained journals to determine if they match.
• Prepare bank deposits by compiling data from cashiers, verifying, and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.
• Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases, using specialized accounting software.
• Compute deductions for income and social security taxes.
• Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Perform general office duties, such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
• Access computerized financial information to answer general questions as well as those related to specific accounts.
• Transfer details from separate journals to general ledgers or data processing sheets.
• Prepare purchase orders and expense reports.
• Maintain inventory records.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Working Conditions:

• Working hours are what works best for student and their class schedule.
• Monday through Friday between the hours 8am-5pm.
• Complete 20 hours a week.
• May complete 30 hours a week during holiday/spring break, if available.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly be able to remain in a stationary position
  • Occasionally move about inside an office and classroom
  • Operate a computer and other office/classroom equipment
  • Occasionally move, transport, or position up to 10 pounds
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • May need to ascend/descend stairs

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be an enrolled student in the Business Administration program.
