Position Title: Athletic Director/ Head Men's Basketball Coach- Closes June 4, 2025 at 5:00 PM

Salary: $65,000

Summary of Duties:

Summary of Athletic Director Duties:

  • Files Eligibility in conjunction with Registrar and Registrar’s Office. (Filed twice per year for men’s and women’s basketball.)
  • Schedules men’s and women’s basketball games (done in conjunction with coaches).
  • Lines up game workers for all home games (advertises position, hires part-time people to fill game positions, turns in part-time compensation forms for game workers)
  • Schedules officials for home games. Makes certain officials are paid for officiating work.
  • Coordinates team travel (this is done in conjunction with coaches. Hotel reservations.  PR’s for hotels.  PR’s for meal money.  Coordinates with Bus Company.).
  • Processes all Purchase Requisitions. (All team needs for gear and equipment, athletic training contract, travel for teams, officials, etc.)
  • Develops and maintains Athletic Department Budgets.
  • Attends Region 13 (likely twice per year) and Mon-Dak Conference Meetings (twice per year).
  • Organizes end of year banquet, orders plaques and other awards.
  • Works with Campus Services on all custodial and maintenance issues with gym.
  • Schedules gym for all events in the gym.
  • Supervises all coaches.   Hires all coaches.
  • Handles media reporting.
  • Makes sure athletic program is in compliance with all NJCAA, Conference and Region bylaws.
  • Assists in filing the Equity in Athletics Report annually.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Head Men’s Basketball Coach Duties:

  • The Head Coach is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Men’s Basketball Program relative to the sport including but not limited to scheduling, purchasing equipment, travel gear, inventory of uniforms, basketballs, etc., budgeting for program, maintaining letters of intent and other NJCAA filings, updating of stats on the NJCAA web site, media relations and reporting, and any other duties involving men’s basketball.
  • Conduct all practice sessions and coach scheduled games.
  • Responsible for coordinating all fundraising activities for the Men’s Basketball Program.
  • Must submit updated player and team stats to NJCAA Websites throughout the basketball season.
  • Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and coordinate mandatory study tables with the Men’s Assistant Coach.
  • Responsible for active recruitment of student-athletes for Men’s Basketball.
  • The Head Coach is under the direct supervision of the Athletic Director regarding all coaching duties.
  • Must comply with the policies and procedures set forth by UTTC, the NJCAA, and Mon-Dak Conference.
  • Must be able to maintain discipline of student athletes.
  • Will supervise assistant coaches and assign respective duties, and responsibilities.
  • Transports athletes to and from the scheduled away games when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Athletic Coaches and Staff

Working Conditions:

  • Normal working hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with one hour lunch.
  • Additional hours may be required to meet program objectives, deadlines, and games.
  • Position will require evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Position will require travel both in and out of state.

Physical Demands: 

  • Will need to be able to bend, stoop, walk, and run as part of daily functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in independent management of a similar program.
  • Must have avoid ND Driver’s License and be insurable under UTTC’s insurance carrier.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Experience in working with college age adults preferred.
  • Must have knowledge or background in American Indian Culture.
