Position Title: Assistant Librarian/Archivist (9 months)- Close December 30, 2025 at 5:00 pm

Salary: $36,000
Summary of Duties:
• Responsible for library supervision during evenings and weekends including opening and closing the library.
• Performs basic library tasks: circulation, reference, shelving, and processing library items.
• Assists students, faculty, and staff in making effective use of library and other internet resources, citations, and applications software.
• Performs clerical work such as answering the telephone and taking accurate messages, making photocopies, scans, and sending faxes.
• Preserves, accessions, and catalogs UTTC Archive collections.
• Conducts oral histories of past or present employees, students and other people as needed for UTTC history.
• Preserve and maintain the physical integrity of archival materials through proper handling, storage, and conservation techniques.
• Making accessible and providing services to archive users.
• Collaborate with other departments and organizations to digitize and disseminate archival materials online, expanding access to a wider audience.
• Assist in collection development activities, including selection, acquisition, and deaccessioning of materials, based on user needs and institutional priorities.
• Engage with the community through outreach activities, such as lectures, workshops, and public programming, to promote the library/archives’ resources and services.
• Participate in professional development opportunities, conferences, and associations to stay current in the field and contribute to the advancement of library and archival practices.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in library science and archival practices and implement innovative solutions to enhance services.
• Uphold professional standards of ethics and confidentiality in handling sensitive information and respecting intellectual property rights.
• Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the college.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Working Conditions:
• General office conditions.
• Working hours include evenings and weekends with appropriate breaks for the number of hours worked.
Physical Demands:
• Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to move loaded book carts.
• Must be able to ascend/descend stairs.
• Regularly be able to remain in a stationary position.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Library experience preferred
• Teaching experience helpful
Knowledge & Skills:
• Knowledge of Native American people, history, and culture desirable.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications, and Internet searching to assist library users.
• Operate basic office equipment, copier, scanner, fax machine, digital phone system.
• Ability to answer basic computer usage questions.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Ability to work under direction and independently.
• Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity
• Willingness to learn about the diverse cultures of the student body and ability to integrate multicultural perspectives into professional practice where appropriate
